A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has sentenced an artisan, Sunday Ejoh, to six months in correctional custody for stealing three tubers of yams. The theft occurred on September 22, 2024, in Okinni, Egbedore Local Government Area. The yams, valued at N3,000, belonged to Olawole Durojaye.

Police prosecutor ASP Jacob Akitunde presented the case, noting that the offense violated section 390(9) of the Criminal Code of Osun State. Ejoh, who specializes in aluminum work and did not have legal representation, pleaded guilty, citing hunger and the need to support his family as his motivation for the theft.

The police recovered a cutlass and slippers from Ejoh during the investigation. Presiding Magistrate M.A. Olatunji sentenced him to six months in prison, with an option for a N25,000 fine.
