NIGERIA’S VICE-PRESIDENT KASHIM SHETTIMA TO ADDRESS UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Nigeria’s Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to address the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) at the UN headquarters in New York.

UNGA 79 commenced on September 10, with the General Debate taking place from September 24 to September 28. The speakers’ schedule released by the UN Secretary-General’s office indicates that 194 individuals, including 76 Heads of State, four Vice Presidents, two Crown Princes, 42 Heads of Government, and nine Deputy Prime Ministers, will participate. The list also includes 54 Ministers and various delegates from the European Union and the Holy See, with 19 women speakers among them.

Vice-President Shettima arrived in New York on Monday to lead Nigeria’s delegation and will deliver the country’s national statement, alongside participating in several high-level meetings. He was welcomed by several officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, among others.
