EMMANUEL EBOUE DISPUTES CLAIMS OF POVERTY FOLLOWING DIVORCE

Former Arsenal and Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Eboue has addressed claims that he has fallen into poverty after his 2017 divorce from his ex-wife, Aurelie. Despite reports suggesting he lost substantial assets during the legal proceedings, Eboue insists that these claims are misleading.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Eboue clarified, “When people say Emmanuel Eboue lost everything, it’s not nice. The court ruled in my wife’s favor, awarding her all my properties—two houses, money, and cars. I wasn’t worried because I expected her to use those resources to care for our children.”

Eboue expressed disappointment over the divorce verdict but emphasized that he has found a way to cope. “I was very down at first, but after that, I prayed and moved on,” he added. After the divorce, he returned to Africa, where he owns properties and lives comfortably.

Eboue’s legal struggles came during a challenging period in his life, including a one-year ban from football due to issues related to a former agent. He has reassured fans that he is not destitute, stating, “I live very comfortably and thank God. When people say Emmanuel Eboue doesn’t have anything, it’s not true.”

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Eboue enjoyed a successful career, playing for Arsenal from 2004 to 2011 before transferring to Turkish giants Galatasaray. He later signed with Sunderland, although his contract was cut short due to his ban from football. Internationally, Eboue represented Côte d’Ivoire 79 times, participating in the 2006 and 2010 World Cup tournaments.
