The Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC) of Enugu State has commended the Local Government Council elections held on Saturday, describing the process as free, fair, credible, and peaceful. IPAC also noted the high voter turnout during the exercise.

In a statement issued by State Chairman Obioma Nnamani and State Secretary Dr. Afam Ani, IPAC applauded the absence of political interference, emphasizing the importance of winners and losers collaborating for the progress of Enugu State.

The council highlighted the peaceful nature of the election, noting that IPAC observers deployed across all 17 local government areas reported no incidents of electoral violence. The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) was praised for its adherence to legal provisions during the election.

However, IPAC acknowledged delays in the arrival of election materials in some areas due to heavy rain, as well as isolated infractions, which are currently under investigation.

The statement encouraged aggrieved parties to seek legal resolutions and called for ongoing political education to ensure newly elected leaders are held accountable.

IPAC concluded by urging civil society and political parties to continue promoting political awareness, ensuring that the promises of democracy are fulfilled by the elected leaders.
