MARKETERS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT DIRECT SUPPLY FROM DANGOTE REFINERY AMID PETROL SCARCITY

Marketers are hopeful they will soon source premium motor spirit (petrol) directly from Dangote Refinery as shortages continue across Nigeria.

Recent checks in Abuja revealed that many retail outlets remain without petrol three months into the current supply crisis.

Chief Chinedu Ukadike, Public Relations Officer for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), expressed optimism about an upcoming meeting with refinery officials. He noted, “Dangote is exploring distribution to independent marketers, which could help alleviate the persistent scarcity.”

He emphasized that establishing coastal distribution via vessels would further mitigate shortages. However, he acknowledged that pricing remains a significant concern, stating that independent marketers must acquire the product at competitive rates.

Commenting on the current supply price of N766 per litre for major marketers, he stated, “Supply will determine price. Once the product is sufficiently available in the country, prices should decrease.”
