The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the Federal Government to take urgent action to address the country’s escalating economic and security issues. In a statement celebrating Oluremi Tinubu’s 64th birthday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh acknowledged her commitment to various social causes, particularly in agriculture, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, and philanthropy.

Archbishop Okoh highlighted the pressing need for the government to confront Nigeria’s significant challenges, noting that the economy is struggling with rising inflation and unemployment, which affect millions. He emphasized that escalating insecurity, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, poses a serious threat to national stability.

CAN underscored the importance of collective action from all levels of government, despite individual efforts, to tackle the nation’s issues effectively. The organization encouraged Oluremi Tinubu to persist in her advocacy for marginalized Nigerians, ensuring their needs and aspirations are prioritized in national discussions.

In his statement, Archbishop Okoh said, “The national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) celebrates the birthday of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu. On this special occasion, we extend our heartfelt wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success in her role as a leader and advocate for the people of Nigeria.”

He continued, “As First Lady, Mrs. Tinubu has shown a strong commitment to various social causes. Her efforts in these critical sectors are commendable and reflect a deep understanding of the challenges facing our nation.”

However, he cautioned, “It is crucial to acknowledge the pressing issues many Nigerians face today. Rising inflation, insecurity, and the ongoing struggle for basic necessities have significantly impacted countless families. As we celebrate the First Lady’s contributions, we must also call for renewed dedication from all levels of government to address these pressing concerns.”

Archbishop Okoh encouraged the First Lady to continue advocating for the marginalized and voiceless, aiming to prioritize their needs in national discourse. He expressed hope that her influence could catalyze positive change, fostering a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive in peace and prosperity.

As he concluded, he reflected on the collective responsibility to uplift one another and work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians, wishing Oluremi Tinubu a purposeful and graceful journey ahead.
