GUARD KILLED BY HIPPOPOTAMUS AT YAUURI FARM

Malam Usman Maigadi, a guard at Orchard Farm owned by Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi, has been killed by a mother hippopotamus, according to the News Agency of Nigeria. The incident occurred while the 60-year-old was fishing in the Yauri River at Tillo Village. It is believed the animal attacked in self-defense, perceiving Maigadi as a threat to its baby.

Maigadi has been buried in Yauri following Islamic rites, as confirmed by the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Shu’aibu. Governor Nasir Idris expressed condolences to the Yauri Emirate and the deceased’s family, urging them to accept the situation with faith and praying for the forgiveness of Maigadi’s shortcomings and his entry into Jannatul Firdaus.
