The Federal University of Transportation Daura in Katsina State has matriculated its first batch of 478 students for the 2023/2024 academic session. The ceremony, held at the university’s permanent site, was attended by Senator Ahmed Alkali, the Minister of Transportation, and other dignitaries.

In his address, the minister encouraged the students to fully embrace the opportunity to gain knowledge and contribute to the country’s economic development. He praised the hospitality of the Katsina State government and its people for supporting the university, particularly during its early development phase.

Alkali also highlighted his commitment to ensuring the university’s operations, including securing a mentor university, appointing key personnel, and facilitating the university’s inclusion on the JAMB portal. This, he noted, made the first admission process smoother.

He thanked CCECC Nigeria Limited for its corporate social responsibility projects at the university and announced that President Bola Tinubu had approved funding for the university under the 2024 Appropriation Act.

The pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, revealed that JAMB had approved a quota of 500 candidates for the university’s admission. He emphasized that candidates interested in careers in the transportation industry were encouraged to apply.
