Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), emphasized the importance of keeping romance alive in marriage, even for those deeply engaged in spiritual activities. In a heartfelt message on his Facebook page, Adeboye shared that he and his wife, Foluke, still use affectionate pet names when they are alone, illustrating that “anointing does not reduce romance.”

Adeboye encouraged married couples to nurture intimacy to ensure their relationships remain vibrant and joyful. He explained that some pastors avoid romantic gestures, fearing they may distract from spiritual obligations. However, Adeboye argued that being anointed should not diminish the need for romance, citing the biblical example of Isaac, who was affectionate with his wife, Rebekah (Genesis 26:8).

He urged couples to rekindle the affection they had before marriage and children, emphasizing the importance of fun and connection in maintaining a strong bond. Adeboye suggested simple acts like writing love notes, using pet names, and surprising each other to keep the romance alive. He shared that he and his wife still use pet names when alone, reminding couples to stay deliberate about keeping their love fresh.

“Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse remain the lovebirds you were when you first got married,” he concluded.
