The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has endorsed the National Single Window (NSW) Project, a major government initiative aimed at optimizing port-clearing processes, improving trade efficiency, and increasing federal revenue.

Key Points:

  • Support for NSW Project: Dr. Vincent Isegbe, NAQS Comptroller General, confirmed NAQS’s commitment to the NSW Project during a visit from NSW Project officials on September 17, 2024. He emphasized that NAQS aligns with the project’s goals of enhancing government revenue, attracting foreign investment, and boosting trade volume through automation.
  • Advancements in NAQS: NAQS has recently introduced the Export Certification Value Chain (ECVC) for 30 agricultural commodities to streamline the export process. Additionally, the electronic certification system, ePhyto, has been implemented to issue phytosanitary certificates more transparently and efficiently.
  • NSW Project Benefits: The NSW Project aims to improve efficiency and transparency in trade operations, contributing to a better business environment in Nigeria. The project, inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to further NAQS’s mandate in trade facilitation.
  • Engagement and Opportunities: NAQS invites Nigerians to participate in the ECVC, which offers streamlined export processes and opportunities for stakeholders, particularly the youth, to engage in foreign exchange activities.

For further updates and participation, interested parties can engage with NAQS and the NSW Project to take advantage of the enhanced trade facilitation measures.
