Kambili Ofili, an emerging British-Nigerian filmmaker and founder of Clear Skies Films & Production, has won the Best Film – African Diaspora award for her directorial debut, Shaping Us, at the 2024 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.

Earlier this year, Shaping Us was nominated in six categories, including Best Drama, Best Film – Nollywood, Best First Film – International, and Best Film – African Diaspora.

Ofili, who also produced, wrote, directed, and acted in the film, expressed her gratitude and passion for the project. She hopes Shaping Us will inspire conversations and empathy around sensitive topics, such as infertility, postpartum depression, divorce, and the power of friendship.

The film, co-produced by Edith Nwakenta, features a talented ensemble cast, including Bucci Franklin, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Omowunmi Dada, James Gardiner, Floyd Igbo, Jordan Bangoji, and a cameo from Lasisi Elenu. The release date for the film has yet to be announced.
