NECO RELEASES 2024 SSCE RESULTS

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the results for the 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal. Professor Dantani Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar/Chief Executive, disclosed on September 19 that 1,376,423 students registered for the exam, with 1,367,736 participating.

Of those who sat for the exam, 828,284 candidates (60.55%) achieved at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language. Overall, 1,147,597 candidates (83.90%) earned five credits or more.

Professor Wushishi also noted that 2,267 candidates with special needs participated. Among them were 1,104 with hearing impairment, 348 with visual impairment, 342 with albinism, 237 with autism, and 236 with low vision.

Malpractice figures showed a reduction, with 8,437 candidates caught in various forms of malpractice in 2024, down from 12,030 in 2023—a 30.1% decrease. Additionally, 40 schools were identified for mass cheating across 17 states.
