Jim Ratcliffe, partial owner of Manchester United, has launched a £2 billion initiative to demolish and rebuild the club’s historic stadium, Old Trafford. This project aims to address longstanding maintenance issues and upgrade the stadium, which currently holds 74,000 fans, to accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, potentially making it the largest in Europe.

The refurbished stadium is expected to be completed before 2030, with final decisions on the project to be made by the end of the year.

Red Devils legend Gary Neville has commented on the rebuild, emphasizing that while historical elements such as statues and the Munich clock will be preserved, much of the old structure will be replaced. He noted that the stands have been updated over time and stressed the importance of integrating iconic features into the new design.

Once completed, the revamped Old Trafford could rival Barcelona’s Camp Nou, which is also being expanded to hold around 100,000 spectators.
