An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has remanded Olayinka Akinware, 35, and Tunji Adesina, 29, for allegedly using four dogs to obstruct police officers from arresting a suspect.
Magistrate Mr. M. Mudashiru ordered their remand at Abolongo Correctional Facility in Oyo, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). The case is adjourned until December 18 for mention.
Prosecution Counsel Insp. Femi Oluwadare stated that the suspects are charged with conspiracy and preventing an arrest. On September 12, at about 8:30 a.m., Akinware and Adesina reportedly assaulted officers, including DSP Festus Fagbohun and ASP Ojo Tolulope, with bamboo branches. They also released their Pitbull, Rottweiler, and two Eskimo dogs to hinder the lawful arrest of Korede Adeoye at No. 15, Oluwo area, Ibadan.
The charges against them violate Sections 332 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, with Section 332 stipulating life imprisonment if found guilty.
