The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have issued a stern warning to anyone planning to disrupt the Edo State governorship election. They have committed to ensuring that the election is conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.

General Musa emphasized the need for all security personnel to remain neutral and professional. The Police have deployed a significant number of officers, including plainclothes personnel, to monitor potential trouble spots, while the NSCDC has been mobilized to protect public assets.

On election day, the Police will restrict movement to individuals with Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). The Nigerian Air Force has delivered election materials to Benin, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed their readiness for the election.

General Musa stressed the importance of a unified effort among all security agencies and made it clear that only authorized personnel are allowed to carry arms during the election. He assured that the focus remains on maintaining security and order, and that unauthorized groups will not be permitted to interfere.
