LASEMA TO DEMOLISH ONIGBONGBO POLICE BARRACKS OVER SAFETY CONCERNS

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has announced plans to carry out a controlled demolition of the Onigbongbo Police Barracks in Ikeja due to severe structural distress. The affected buildings, located inside the Onigbogbo MOPOL 20 Police Barracks, Ikeja GRA, have been deemed unsafe after an assessment by LASEMA.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, revealed that the agency’s response team discovered the need for immediate evacuation of the buildings. As part of the safety measures, the evacuation will be followed by a controlled demolition to prevent any potential incidents.

Oke-Osanyintolu urged residents to remain calm, avoid panic, and refrain from spreading misinformation on social media. He emphasized that the action is a precautionary step taken under the supervision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to ensure public safety.
