Former England striker Andy Carroll has signed with Bordeaux, the six-time Ligue 1 champions, the club announced on Wednesday. The 35-year-old, who has been with Ligue 2 side Amiens since 2023, passed his medical on Tuesday before finalizing his contract.

Bordeaux welcomed Carroll, highlighting his extensive experience with nearly 450 professional matches, which they believe will enhance their attacking options. Carroll began training with his new teammates at Le Haillan on Wednesday.

Carroll, who has been capped nine times by England and scored twice, has made 248 Premier League appearances and netted 54 goals. At Amiens, he scored four goals in 35 appearances.

Bordeaux, administratively relegated to National 2 – the fourth tier of French football – this summer, currently sits 15th out of 16 in Group B. They have struggled this season, scoring just two goals so far, one of which came from goalkeeper Lassana Diabate.
