Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recently shared a personal experience of deception to caution Nigerians about the dangers of acting on misplaced enthusiasm.

In his story, Adeboye recounted how his strong interest in the military led him to fall victim to a scam. An individual posing as a representative of a paramilitary group approached him with an enticing offer to become their spiritual leader. Blinded by his passion and without consulting divine guidance, Adeboye agreed to the role and provided financial support, only to later discover he had been deceived.

Adeboye admitted that his usual practice of seeking God’s guidance before taking on new ventures was overlooked due to his eagerness. Reflecting on the experience, he acknowledged that while he lost money, it could have been worse. He noted that God had already planned for his organization to have its own chaplains and local police post, but his personal desire led him astray.

He used this story to deliver a message to his followers: Trust in God’s timing and avoid rushing ahead of divine plans. While it is not wrong to desire success or wealth, Adeboye advised waiting for these blessings to come in God’s time rather than pursuing them on one’s own.

His message emphasizes the importance of aligning personal ambitions with spiritual discernment and divine timing.
