A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the judgment in the case seeking the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to September 23, 2024. The judgment was initially scheduled for September 18 but was not on the cause list.

The court registrar informed the parties involved that the judgment was not ready and that a new date had been set. Justice Inyang Ekwo, who had fixed today for the ruling after hearing submissions from both the plaintiff and the defense, will now deliver the judgment next week.

The suit, filed by the North Central APC Forum led by Saleh Zazzaga, challenges Ganduje’s appointment as APC Chairman, arguing that he does not represent the North Central geopolitical zone, as required by the party’s constitution. The plaintiff seeks to restrain Ganduje from acting as chairman and to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing any APC actions, including congresses and nominations, since Ganduje’s appointment on August 3, 2023.

The plaintiff contends that Ganduje’s appointment violates the APC constitution and the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) overstepped its powers in appointing him, as his replacement should have come from the North Central zone.
