Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State reopened the newly rehabilitated Odo Iya Alaro Bridge on Monday, a significant move aimed at alleviating persistent traffic congestion in the area. The governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized that the rehabilitation aligns with the administration’s commitment to enhancing traffic management and transportation.

Sanwo-Olu urged citizens to protect the infrastructure and warned against the removal of newly installed manhole covers. The manholes, now made of fiber rather than metal, are designed to prevent theft and ensure safety.

The governor praised the project’s early completion, which took 54 days instead of the initially planned 90 days. He acknowledged the contributions of the Office of Works, Infrastructure, Ministry of Transportation, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser on Infrastructure, detailed that the rehabilitation included new expansion joints and remedial work, making the bridge ready for use. He highlighted that the project’s completion ahead of schedule will significantly improve traffic management in Lagos State.
