As Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on leaders to tackle Nigeria’s pressing issues, including insecurity and economic difficulties. In a statement released on Monday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh stressed the need for policies that promote justice and welfare for all Nigerians.

Okoh highlighted the country’s worsening security situation, economic stagnation, and social divisions, urging immediate action. He underscored the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s cultural diversity to strengthen national unity and called on religious leaders to foster tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

“Nigeria’s rich cultural and religious diversity is a strength, but we must recognize the challenges threatening our unity,” Okoh said. “In these challenging times, we must stand together, transcending religious and ethnic barriers.”

He encouraged religious leaders to advocate for tolerance and coexistence, and to support one another, especially those in need. Okoh also called on leaders to focus on policies that alleviate the suffering of the populace and ensure justice and equity.

“Good governance and transparent leadership are crucial to restoring hope and confidence in Nigeria’s future,” Okoh added. “May the teachings of the Prophet inspire our people to pursue peace and justice, and may God bless Nigeria with prosperity and unity.”
