Mr. Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, former Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has declared that the upcoming Saturday’s election will serve as a referendum on the nine-year administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Arigbe-Osula emphasized that his support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, transcends partisan politics.

In an interview with newsmen, Arigbe-Osula stated: “This election is not about playing politics but about working tirelessly to create a better nation. We need to make this happen in Edo on Saturday.”

He elaborated on the significance of the governorship election, stating: “This is the most critical election of my adult life due to the prevailing national conditions. The poor performance of the APC and the resultant hardships necessitate a decisive outcome in Edo State. This election is, without a doubt, a referendum on the nine-year APC government. Over the past nine years, we have experienced nothing but hardship—severe insecurity, pain, and anguish. Edo people must come out in their millions to use their vote to end this suffering.”

Arigbe-Osula continued: “We cannot afford to reward an incompetent government with the governorship of our state. The individuals who came to Benin for their campaign finale are responsible for the current state of affairs. They danced and celebrated while ignoring the suffering they have caused. Edo people must reject APC and vote for a change.”

He urged the electorate to see the election as a critical moment for Nigeria: “Edo people must vote not only for their state but for the entire nation. This Saturday, Nigerians will be looking to Edo to make a stand against APC. We must not make a mistake; otherwise, we risk taking Edo State a century back. The APC, which has been in power for the past nine years, has inflicted severe hardship and is now campaigning with the same failed promises.”

Arigbe-Osula concluded: “Edo State must reject APC on Saturday. The only motivation to vote APC would be driven by corruption, not by the pursuit of peace, development, or security. Therefore, on Saturday, the party that cannot be voted for is APC.”
