National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu has demanded a retraction of an allegation made by Anthony Aziegbemi, chairperson of the Edo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On September 14, Aziegbemi claimed that the Federal Government was planning to rig the upcoming Edo Governorship Election using Ribadu and the Department of State Service (DSS). He alleged that Ribadu had released $2 million to the APC governorship candidate as part of the scheme.
In response, Ribadu’s legal team, Charles Musa & Co, has denounced the allegation as “totally false” and demanded an immediate retraction. The lawyers stated that the claim of Ribadu’s involvement in vote-buying and bribery was malicious and libelous, damaging to his reputation.
They emphasized that Ribadu, a respected former EFCC Chairman and career police officer, has always demonstrated integrity and a commitment to fighting corruption. The lawyers demanded a written apology and full retraction, to be published in major newspapers, online news sites, TV stations, and radio channels. They also requested N10 billion in damages for reputational harm.
The legal team warned that if their demands are not met within seven days, they would proceed with further legal actions to enforce Ribadu’s rights.
