GOVERNOR ADELEKE AND MINISTER OYETOLA MOURN LATE OWA OBOKUN OF IJESALAND

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, have expressed their condolences following the death of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. The monarch passed away after a brief illness, as confirmed by Chief Olayinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland.

Governor Adeleke remembered the late Oba as a dedicated leader and advocate for development. In a statement, Adeleke praised Oba Aromolaran’s commitment to the well-being of his people and recalled their last interaction during the flag-off of the dualisation of Brewery-Palace road. He emphasized that the monarch’s passing will be deeply felt.

Minister Oyetola, a former governor of Osun State, described Oba Aromolaran as a symbol of royalty and service. In his tribute, Oyetola highlighted the late monarch’s contributions to Ijesaland and beyond, noting his bravery, brilliance, and commitment to service. He extended his condolences to the family of the late monarch and the people of Ijesaland.

In response to Oba Aromolaran’s death, the Owa-in-Council has declared a seven-day curfew and mourning period in Ijesaland. The curfew will be in effect from 10 pm to 6 am, and markets across Ijesaland will be closed for three days starting Friday. This period of mourning reflects the significant loss felt across the community and the state
