The Ward Party Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 has suspended Senator Dino Melaye for alleged involvement in anti-party activities. The suspension was announced in a statement by PDP Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo on Friday in Lokoja.

The statement, issued following a meeting of the Ward Party Executive Committee on Thursday, September 12, outlines that Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party, making his continued membership untenable.

Melaye, representing Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi, was reportedly invited to appear before a disciplinary committee on August 20, 2024, to address allegations of misconduct. However, he failed to attend the meeting, disregarding the party’s authority.

The Ward Party Exco’s resolution cited Melaye’s failure to comply with party regulations and his actions that violated the PDP Constitution and principles of party discipline. As a result, his suspension is effective immediately, in accordance with Article 59(1) of the PDP Constitution.

The statement urges PDP members to adhere to party discipline and work towards building a united and strong party. Efforts to reach Melaye for comment on the suspension have been unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
