The state chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have expressed deep concern over the current state of the nation under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. They have resolved to request a private meeting with the President to discuss the country’s challenges.
Amid growing discontent due to the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate market, which have led to widespread economic hardship, the APC chairmen gathered in Abuja on September 12, 2024, to deliberate on how they can contribute to alleviating the situation for the masses.
Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the Secretary of the APC States Chairmen’s Forum and Chairman of Cross River State, announced after the meeting that the forum had decided to seek a closed-door discussion with President Tinubu. The meeting is intended to address the ongoing hardship and other pressing national issues, including recent decisions by the APC National Working Committee (NWC).
Eba, alongside Lagos State Chairman and acting forum Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, emphasized that while the forum is aware of the public’s concerns, they will refrain from making further statements until after their proposed meeting with the President and the NWC.
The APC chairmen have committed to updating Nigerians on the outcomes of their discussions once they have met with the federal government.
