Ibraheem Abdulhameed, popularly known as the Islamic singer Labaeka, has resigned from his position as Special Assistant, Artiste to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Labaeka cited dissatisfaction with his role, revealing that he was never provided with a clear schedule of duties or the opportunity to fulfill his responsibilities.

In a resignation letter dated September 12, 2024, which has been circulating on social media, Labaeka expressed his disappointment over the ambiguity surrounding his position. He emphasized that he could not, in good conscience, continue to receive a salary without actively contributing to his role.

“I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing,” Labaeka stated.

Reflecting on his appointment, which began on January 6, 2023, Labaeka noted that he had accepted the role with the hope of showcasing his talents. However, he regretted that this opportunity never materialized.

“Since my appointment is based on public trust, I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing,” he added.

As an Islamic cleric, Labaeka mentioned that receiving a salary without fulfilling his duties conflicts with his beliefs, and he has been troubled by this situation. He requested that his salary be stopped immediately and expressed gratitude for the opportunity, hoping that he would one day be able to fully utilize his talents for the state’s development.
