Senator Ahmad Lawan, the former President of the Senate, has urged the Borno State government to collaborate with relevant agencies to develop lasting solutions to the state’s ongoing flooding issues.

Lawan expressed deep sympathy for Governor Babagana Zulum and the people of Borno State, who have been severely impacted by the recent floods that have devastated large areas of the state. The flooding has resulted in significant loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of residents, affecting homes, farmlands, and livelihoods.

In his statement, Lawan condemned the catastrophic impact of the floods and called for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant bodies to urgently provide relief materials and support to the affected communities.

He acknowledged Governor Zulum’s swift actions in evacuating residents and providing temporary shelters, as well as the federal government’s additional support to Borno State in addressing the disaster’s aftermath.

Lawan stressed the importance of a long-term approach to flood control and recommended that the Borno State government collaborate with agencies to implement a comprehensive flood control program to prevent future occurrences.

He concluded his statement by praying for the souls of those who perished in the floods and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
