FG HANDS OVER FOOD AID TO AKWA IBOM GOVERNMENT

The Federal Government has delivered 24,180 bags of maize and 5,828 bags of garri to the Akwa Ibom Government. This donation, presented by Zubaida Umar, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is part of the government’s commitment to mitigating the effects of current economic hardships.

The food items will be distributed to vulnerable households in Akwa Ibom through local government committees, which will include council chairmen, State Emergency Management Agency representatives, and traditional leaders. Additionally, 20% of the food items are designated for religious groups, and 3% will go to boarding schools.

Dr. Offiong Offor, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Akwa Ibom, praised the Federal Government for this support, assuring that the items will reach the intended beneficiaries.
