Rescue operations are underway in Maiduguri, Borno State, following severe flooding caused by the rupture of the Alau Dam on the Ngadda River. The flooding has submerged large parts of the city, including homes, markets, and key infrastructure, leading to significant loss of life and property.

- Severity of Flooding: The flooding has been described as catastrophic, with large sections of Maiduguri, including Gamboru Market, Kasuwan Shanu, Custom Area, Fori, and Abbaganaram, still under water. This is reported as the worst flood the city has experienced in 30 years.
- Rescue and Relief Efforts: Military forces, volunteers, and security agencies are working tirelessly to evacuate thousands of people trapped by the flood. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, visited the worst-hit areas and pledged federal support. Authorities are focusing on evacuating vulnerable groups, including women and children.
