Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved a new policy granting two days off each week to state government employees on Grade Levels 01 to 14. This decision, announced on Wednesday in Abeokuta, aims to help workers cope with the increased commuting challenges due to rising fuel prices.

State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, indicated that this policy is intended to alleviate the financial burden on workers and improve their motivation and productivity. For employees on Grade Levels 15 to 17, the previous arrangement of one day off per week will remain in effect.

Onasanya urged all accounting officers to swiftly implement this new policy across their ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to ensure that service delivery remains unaffected. He emphasized that Governor Abiodun’s commitment to worker welfare is reflected in this move to provide substantial relief to the workforce.

This policy builds on a one-day off-work policy introduced by Governor Abiodun in July 2023, and is expected to further reduce financial pressures and enhance overall productivity.
