A severe flood has severed the road linking Saminaka town to five surrounding agrarian communities, including Marjire, in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The disaster has resulted in the collapse of a crucial bridge on the outskirts of Saminaka, isolating these communities from the local government headquarters.

Governor Uba Sani has pledged to take immediate action to address the situation. His Chief of Staff, Malam Liman Sani Kila, who led the Flood Impact Assessment Committee to Lere LGA, emphasized the administration’s commitment to supporting the affected areas and developing the rural economy.

Malam Sani Kila assured that the government would not only reconstruct the damaged road and bridge but would also provide relief materials to the affected communities. He stated, “We have assessed the damage and recognize the urgency of the situation. The disruption has severely impacted the commercial activities of five communities. Governor Uba Sani is committed to resolving these issues, and our committee will update him on the situation today.”

Lere Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mathew Bulus Gambo, expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for initiating a high-powered committee to tackle the crisis. He highlighted the significant impact of the bridge collapse on economic activities in the affected areas and stressed the need for swift action.

The committee also visited other flood-affected areas within the local government, including Wawan Rafi Village, where another bridge had collapsed, as well as Nasarawa and Ungwan Shuru in Saminaka township.
