PRESIDENT TINUBU EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER MAIDUGURI FLOOD AND COMMITS TO ASSISTANCE

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the severe flooding that has impacted Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu extended his condolences to the state government and affected residents, particularly those who have lost their means of livelihood.

The flooding, described as the worst in recent decades, was caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam. It has displaced thousands of residents and caused significant damage to critical facilities, including the Post Office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

CALL FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION

President Tinubu has called for the immediate evacuation of people from the affected areas to ensure their safety. He assured Governor Babagana Zulum that the Federal Government is prepared to work collaboratively to address the immediate humanitarian needs of those impacted by the disaster.

SUPPORT FROM FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

The President has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide assistance to the flood victims and has committed to mobilizing federal resources to support Borno State during this challenging period.
