Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed that she has never experienced a serious relationship and is eager to know what it feels like. In a recent interview with Dazed Magazine, Starr expressed her longing for love and shared her thoughts on her current romantic status.
“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was in it,” Ayra Starr said. Despite considering herself a “lover girl” at heart, she clarified that she is very single and has never been in a fully committed relationship.
“I’m just very strong-headed about it. I actually have never been in love…I’ve been in certain situations—not situationships!—but I’ve never been in a fully committed relationship,” she explained.
Starr attributed her single status to her busy career. “I’ve put myself out there and tried to see what’s available, but I don’t think I’ve had the time. I’ve always been working. I’ve been working since I was 15: modeling, attending university, and now touring,” she added.
On her habit of singing to her male fans, Starr mentioned, “It’s me just enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, ‘Let me sing to a cute boy today’ and I’m looking around because I can, why not?”
Previously, there were speculations about a relationship between Ayra Starr and her colleague Rema. However, Starr addressed these rumors in an exclusive interview with Kiss FM in 2023, denying the speculation and clarifying the true nature of her relationship with Rema.
