The Forum of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria (FCSO) has vehemently countered allegations of corruption made by Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla against the Buhari administration. During a press conference in Abuja, FCSO leader Comrade Friday Maduka condemned Obono-Obla’s claims as “a farrago of lies” intended to discredit former officials from Buhari’s tenure.

Maduka accused Obono-Obla of launching a “calumny campaign” to stay relevant by aligning with the current administration. He described these actions as “Machiavellian,” aimed at distorting the truth for personal gain. Maduka also criticized Obono-Obla’s tenure as Chairman of the Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Federal Government Property, alleging misuse of power and creation of personal detention centers that undermined anti-corruption efforts.

The FCSO leader defended former President Buhari and former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, asserting that they left behind “unimpeachable progressive legacies” in their fight against corruption. Maduka urged Nigerians to dismiss Obono-Obla’s allegations as distractions from the critical work of anti-corruption bodies and assured that an internal investigation had cleared Malami of any wrongdoing.
