TENSION AS EDWIN CLARK CALLS FOR WIKE’S ARREST OVER THREATS ON PDP STATES

< 1 mn read

Elder statesman Edwin Clark has demanded the immediate arrest of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, following threatening remarks made by Wike against governors loyal to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Clark’s call for action comes after Wike allegedly threatened to “put fire” to the states of governors supporting Fubara during a recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congress in Rivers State. This dispute has led to two factions within the Rivers State House of Assembly, each electing rival speakers.

In an open letter addressed to Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Clark criticized Wike’s comments as a “macabre dance” and accused him of undermining public peace. He emphasized that no one is above the law and insisted that Wike’s threats should not go unchecked.

Clark, who leads the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), pointed out that individuals have been arrested for lesser offenses in the past and argued that Wike should face similar consequences. He urged the IGP to act promptly to prevent further damage to the PDP’s integrity in Rivers State.
