NAF AIRSTRIKES NEUTRALISE SEVERAL TERRORISTS NEAR LAKE CHAD

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully conducted airstrikes against terrorists in the Jubillaram area, southern Tumbuns, near Lake Chad, resulting in the elimination of several militants.

AVM Edward Gabkwet, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, announced on Thursday that the operation was facilitated by the forced migration of terrorists to higher ground due to persistent rainfall. This migration made the terrorists more visible and vulnerable to the airstrikes.

Gabkwet detailed that NAF aircraft executed a precision air interdiction mission, targeting and destroying terrorists’ structures and their makeshift accommodations. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had previously identified these targets.

“The success of this operation underscores the NAF’s dedication to its mandate and its role in safeguarding the nation from terrorist threats,” Gabkwet stated. He noted that the heavy rainfall and swampy terrain inadvertently forced the terrorists out of their hiding places, allowing the NAF to deliver a decisive blow.

The airstrike has significantly disrupted the terrorists’ operations, reducing their ability to attack civilian targets. Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff, has directed all Air Component Commanders to intensify their efforts against terrorists and criminal elements, and this operation confirms the effectiveness of these directives.
