The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully neutralised a notorious kidnap kingpin and sea pirate during a gun battle with law enforcement operatives. The confrontation occurred on Wednesday in the Uyanga Community of Cross River State.

ASP Timfon John, the State Police Public Relations Officer, informed the press in Uyo on Thursday about the operation. She revealed that the suspect was a leader of the “Bling Marine Strike Force,” a group responsible for terrorizing the Uruan/Oron waterways. The group had been linked to several heinous crimes, including the kidnapping of a High Court Judge and the murder of her Police Orderly, as well as the gruesome killing of another prominent individual in the state.

During the operation, the police recovered a G3 rifle and four live rounds of ammunition from the suspect. His remains have been deposited in the morgue, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara, has reassured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining safety and security in the state, encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
