The Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has detained five suspects in connection with the alleged diversion of two trucks carrying 70 metric tons of Indorama fertilisers.

The suspects were apprehended around the Mararaban Jama’a area of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) following an intelligence report. According to ASC Ruth Rimvyok, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the allocation papers indicated that the fertilisers, originally intended for Lagos and Oyo States, were being rerouted to Bauchi State.

The suspects were arrested on August 21 and 23, along with two trucks, each loaded with 35 metric tons of government Indorama fertiliser. Rimvyok confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the diversion.

One of the suspects, Abubakar Mohammed, has denied the allegations, claiming that they were instructed to deliver the fertilisers to Bauchi State.
