President Bola Tinubu has appointed Adeola Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) following the resignation of the former DG, Yusuf Magaji Bichi. This announcement was made on Monday, August 26, 2024, by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Alongside Ajayi’s appointment, President Tinubu also named Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), succeeding Ahmed Abubakar, who also recently resigned.

In the official statement, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and urged the new appointees to work collaboratively to enhance the nation’s security. He emphasized the importance of improving the effectiveness of both intelligence agencies and encouraged the new leaders to align closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Bichi and Abubakar had both been appointed to their positions in 2018 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, serving for six years before their resignations.
