< 1 mn read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is experiencing internal strife as Senator Dino Melaye, former Kogi State governorship candidate, faces severe criticism for his recent allegations against key PDP leaders. Melaye accused the party’s leadership of “commercialisation and privatisation,” which has sparked a significant backlash from within the party.

The PDP Frontliners, an intra-party group, have condemned Melaye’s remarks as baseless and insulting. In their statement, they accused Melaye of attempting to blame the party officials who supported his candidacy despite his failure to mobilize effectively during the election.

The group also criticized Melaye’s attacks on acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and National Organising Secretary Umar Bature. They argued that Melaye’s accusations amount to a “gratuitous insult” to both the people of Kogi State and the PDP.

The PDP Frontliners further alleged that some individuals are exploiting the party’s challenges for personal gain and vowed to protect the party’s integrity against such attempts. Despite the conflict, they remain hopeful about the party’s future, emphasizing the need for adherence to the party’s core values and ethical practices.
