In a violent clash between security operatives and members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) in Wuse Market, Abuja, on August 25, 2024, three people have been confirmed dead, including two police officers and a trader identified as Amiru.

The unrest began when IMN members clashed with police officers, leading to the destruction of three police patrol vehicles and the injury of several officers. Amiru, an onlooker, was shot in the chest during the chaos and later died while being transported to Maitama District Hospital.

The FCT Police Command condemned the attack, describing it as unprovoked and accusing the protesters of using machetes, improvised explosive devices, and knives. The police have announced several arrests and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. The situation is currently under control, with efforts to restore normalcy underway.
