21-YEAR-OLD MAN KIDNAPS HIS MENTOR’S SON, DEMANDS ₦2 MILLION RANSOM

The Katsina State Police have arrested Halilu Yusuf, a 21-year-old man, for allegedly kidnapping the six-year-old son of his mentor and demanding a ₦2 million ransom. According to police spokesman ASP Abubakar Aliyu, Yusuf lured the boy from Kofar-Sauri quarters on August 17 and initially kept him in his room before moving him to another location, unaware that police were tracking him. Yusuf made an anonymous phone call to the boy’s father, informing him of the abduction and demanding the ransom.

Upon receiving the report, a police team led by the DPO of GRA, Katsina, swiftly mobilized, traced, and arrested Yusuf, successfully rescuing the boy unharmed. During the investigation, Yusuf confessed to the crime. The suspect will be charged in court after the investigation is concluded.
