The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the party’s ongoing internal challenges. During a media parley on Wednesday, August 21, marking his first anniversary as a minister, Wike declared his intention to stay in the PDP and confront any battles ahead. This statement comes after Chief Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information, called on the PDP National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, to expel Wike from the party, accusing him of using his influence with President Bola Tinubu to undermine Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the PDP.

Wike responded to these accusations, stating, “I don’t run away from any fight. I will stay and fight it out. Who am I going to run from? The vampires? I cannot do that!” He emphasized that integrity is crucial and dismissed any notions of leaving the PDP for the APC, asserting that he would do so openly if it were his intention. Wike also highlighted his contributions to ensuring the PDP’s victory in Rivers State, criticizing those who fear his influence within the party.
