Former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump is set to hold his first outdoor rally since narrowly escaping an assassination attempt a month ago. The rally, scheduled for Wednesday at an aviation museum in Asheboro, North Carolina, will feature heightened security precautions, including bulletproof glass surrounding Trump’s podium.
Following the attack at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman fired from a rooftop, the Secret Service had recommended halting outdoor events. The shooting resulted in Trump being injured and one fatality among the crowd. Despite this, Trump has expressed a desire to return to open-air rallies, stating he would continue them with increased security.
Trump, who has conducted around a dozen indoor rallies since the shooting, emphasized his commitment to outdoor events during a speech in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He has also reassured supporters on social media that the Secret Service would bolster their security measures to ensure safety at future open-air rallies.
