The Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences has apprehended four individuals for illegal petroleum sales and confiscated over 2,000 litres of the products in the Mile-2 area.

The operation was conducted in response to concerns over the fire hazards and traffic disruptions caused by the illegal sale of petroleum products. According to Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, spokesperson for the Taskforce, the raid was part of efforts to address safety risks and dismantle illegal structures that also housed suspected criminals.

Abdulraheem highlighted that the illegal sales were not only dangerous but also contributed to traffic congestion and criminal activities in the area. The Taskforce acted on directives from the state government and the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade.

The seized products and the arrested individuals will be processed through the legal system, with items forfeited to the Lagos State Government. The Taskforce will continue to monitor the area to prevent a resurgence of such illegal activities and ensure road safety.
