Shehu Sani Reveals Harsh Prison Conditions: ‘We Bathed in Open Spaces’

< 1 mn read

Shehu Sani, the former senator for Kaduna Central, recently shared a harrowing memory from his time in prison during the 1990s. In a post on his verified Facebook page, Sani described one of his most challenging experiences behind bars:

Sani recounted that prisoners were required to bathe in an open space, which was a particularly distressing experience. They were given just ten minutes to complete their bath before the next group was called.

He humorously contrasted the different types of vehicles, like trailers and tankers, with the limited time and space they had for bathing. This vivid imagery highlighted the severity of the conditions they faced.

Sani mentioned a fellow inmate, a pastor, who would cry while bathing. Despite the difficult circumstances, Sani found some humor in the situation, noting that the pastor’s tears often made him laugh.

Sani’s reflections offer a glimpse into the harsh realities of prison life and the resilience required to endure such experiences.
