The S16 Film Festival is set to make a comeback for its fourth edition, scheduled to run from December 5 to December 8, 2024. This annual event, which celebrates African cinema, will be held at Alliance Francais in Lagos.

Organized by CJ Obasi, Abba T. Makama, and Michael Omonua, the festival highlights exceptional filmmakers and independent films, offering a range of activities including short film screenings, feature films, and panel discussions with both renowned and emerging talents.

The festival, inspired by the Dogme 95 movement, is part of the Surreal 16 Collective, which aims to innovate Nigerian cinema and challenge traditional norms. Previous editions have featured diverse film offerings and thematic celebrations, with the first edition in 2021 showcasing short films and the feature film Juju Stories. The second edition expanded to include works from multiple African countries, while the third edition, themed “To God Be the Glory,” presented a variety of unique African films, including the Senegalese film Banel and Adama.

This year’s festival, themed “TECHNOLOGIC,” will continue this tradition, featuring new wave cinema, an exhibition, panel conversations, and a themed party over its four-day span.
