Ebonyi Lawmaker and Governor Collaborate to End Long-Term Power Blackout

Oluchukwu Ezeali, a lawmaker representing Afikpo North East Constituency in Ebonyi State, has announced a partnership with Governor Francis Nwifuru to restore power supply to his constituency. The move follows over a decade of power outages in the Afikpo North Local Government Area.

Ezeali, in a statement issued on August 14, 2024, praised Governor Nwifuru for his commitment to addressing infrastructure issues in the state, including the prolonged electricity blackout. He noted that the governor’s administration has demonstrated a strong dedication to resolving the power supply problem and other infrastructure concerns.

The lawmaker assured residents that efforts were underway to resolve the blackout, thanks to the intervention of both the governor and the presidency. He emphasized the importance of patience from the community as political officeholders work to tackle the issue.

Ezeali also highlighted the creation of the Rural Electrification Commission by the Ebonyi State government, which is tasked with addressing rural power supply problems. He assured constituents that the restoration of power to Afikpo would be a top priority for the commission.

He acknowledged past efforts by previous administrations but noted that technical challenges in implementing electricity projects can be complex. Ezeali emphasized that the current administration is making significant strides to address the long-standing power issue.
