“Mourinho Expresses Frustration After Fenerbahçe’s Champions League Exit: ‘I’ll Get Into Trouble’”

Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho voiced his frustration following his team’s elimination from the Champions League by Lille in the third qualifying round. The Turkish club, which lost 3-2 on aggregate with Lille’s decisive penalty goal coming deep into extra time, will now compete in the Europa League this season.

Mourinho refrained from elaborating on his frustrations, remarking, “We can do very well in the Europa League, but if… I prefer not to continue with this sentence. Because if I say it, I will get into trouble.” He also chose not to dwell on the controversial penalty decision, suggesting that only the referee and VAR know the reasons behind it.

The manager expressed pride in his team’s performance but criticized the officiating, stating, “It’s better not to talk about the penalty. When I look at other incidents that have happened to me recently… Only the referee knows why it was a penalty, only the VAR knows.” He added, “If they showed a yellow card in the first 20 minutes, everything would change, but they don’t.”
